NACOGDOCHES -- Jenna McCarty's goal was all Nacogdoches needed to improve to 6-1 in district play with a 1-0 home win against Palestine on Tuesday.

McCarty scored her goal off an Alexandra Stokes assist.

Goalkeeper Savannah Scott teamed with a sturdy defensive unit to help the Lady Dragons notch the shutout.

"The first half we struggled with consistency, but the second half we worked it out and were able to move the ball up the field better and we had more opportunities at the net. We just panicked and could not capitalize," said Nacogdoches coach Gari Dial. "However the girls kept their composure and were able to hang on to a 1-0 lead."

Nacogdoches hosts Center on Friday.

  • The Nacogdoches JV won 4-0. Bayli davis, Abby Hendricks, Amy Balderas, Jayla Powers and Emma Bond were involved in the scoring. Kelley Bridges and Amy Martin combined in the shutout.

 

Rockwall-Heath Edges Longview

ROCKWALL -- The Longview Lady Lobos dropped a 2-1 decision to Rockwall-Heath on Tuesday in District 12-5A girls soccer action.

Lauren Hall got the lone goal for Longview (16-6, 5-4) off an assist from Jennifer Boudreau.

Longview, which was tied 1-1 at the half, outshot Heath on the night, 8-3.

The Lady Lobos are back in action Friday at home against North Mesquite.

Hallsville Finishes Strong Against Spring Hill

HALLSVILLE -- The Hallsville Ladycats scored three times in the match's final 12 minutes to take a 4-1 win over Spring Hill on Tuesday in District 32-4A action.

Lacee Blakeley gave Hallsville a 1-0 lead with a penalty kick-goal in the first half before Spring Hill evened it up with 20 minutes remaining in the second half.

Olivia Stanton's goal off an assist from Nat Lomax gave the Ladycats a 2-1 lead with 12 minutes to go. Four minutes later, Blakeley assisted an Alexis Smith goal, and only a minute after that, Blakeley found the net after a pass from Smith.

Hallsville will play its final home match of the regular season Friday against Kilgore.
