LONGVIEW -- No. 4 Spring Hill’s strong defensive play was crucial in a 25-12, 25-13, 25-8 sweep of the Bullard Lady Panthers on Tuesday night in District 16-3A action.

Senior Savannah Voelzke took command, swatting down 16 kills to add to her two blocks and one assist. Sophomore Mikai Brown saw playing time and took advantage of the opportunity, going 7 for 7 from the service line for the Lady Panthers (31-2, 8-0).

Bullard and Spring Hill saw the lead change five times to start Game 1. Tied 7-7, junior Jacey Fleet swung momentum in the Lady Panthers' favor with three straight service points, including one ace to take the lead for good. Bullard tried to claw back in the game, but Spring Hill held onto its lead for a 1-0 advantage in the match.

In Game 2, Bullard jumped out to a 3-0 lead with kills from Ashley Searcy and Makenzie Fish. Aly Curtis broke a 4-4 tie with an ace and four straight points for Spring Hill. Fish struck back with an ace trying to spark a Bullard run, but setter Rachel Riestenberg collected seven points and Voelzke blocked the game’s final point.

In the final game of the night, Spring Hill jumped out to a 13-3 lead and never looked back. Voelzke took to the service line for seven consecutive serves, including one ace to extend the lead to 21-5. Fish and Searcy both had blocks, while Lexi Abercrombie added a kill to round out the scoring for Bullard. Jasmin Kullenberg knocked down the final kill to secure the win for Spring Hill.

Jacey Fleet knocked down five kills to add to her one assist and one dig, while teammate Ann Hollas chipped in with seven kills. Riestenberg dished out 28 assists and one block in the Lady Panthers victory.

Fish hammered down two kills to add to her two blocks and one dig, while Ashley Searcy contributed two kills, two blocks and one assist for the Bullard Lady Panthers.

Spring Hill plays at Chapel Hill, while Bullard plays at Gladewater on Friday
