The 6-foot-3, 200-pound gunslinger received an offer from Rice, which joins the Texas Tech offer he received last week.

Mahomes is a multi-sport standout who has also holds two baseball offers from Arkansas and Arizona.

Mahomes threw for more than 3,800 yards, 46 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 2012, leading Whitehouse to a 10-2 record that included a 9-0 start and 63-56 second-round loss to Wylie East. Mahomes used his legs to run for 258 yards and six touchdowns as well.

Right now, he's the leading scorer for Whitehouse's 17-5 boys basketball team, which plays at John Tyler in Tuesday's District 16-4A showdown.
