Soccer Roundup: Pine Tree Girls Go Unbeaten in District + Longview Lady Lobos Secure Third Place in 12-5A

LONGVIEW -- Lorena Gonzalez's two second-half goals lifted the Pine Tree Lady Pirates to a 2-0 win over Spring Hill on Friday night, concluding an unbeaten District 32-4A campaign.

Pine Tree (20-1-1, 12-0) will face John Tyler next Tuesday in the bi-district round of the playoffs at Tyler's Rose Stadium. Game time is to be announced.

Gonzalez's first goal was assisted by Amanda Wallin, while the second came off an assist from Erin Bailey.

Pine Tree outshot Spring Hill 10-2 on the night.

Mesquite Horn Edges Longview Girls in Shootout

LONGVIEW -- Mesquite Horn and Longview played to a scoreless tie in regulation before Horn registered the win in a shootout Tuesday night in the District 12-5A finale.

The tie secures third place for Longview (17-6-2, 6-4-2), which will face the second-place team from District 11-5A next week in the bi-district round of the playoffs.

Cara Bauer was in goal for Longview, which had solid defensive performances from Rhejanne Durrant, Felicia Ellison, Kaitlyn Adams and Sarah Mack.

Horn's junior varsity defeated Longview, 2-1.
