TEXARKANA -- Texas High scored 27 unanswered points and cruised past Mount Pleasant by a final score of 27-7 Friday inside Tiger Stadium at Grimm Park.

Mount Pleasant got on the board first, and owned a 7-3 lead after the first quarter, thanks to a 10-yard run by Je'kerris Lee less than halfway through the period. But it was all Texas High after that.

A 29-yard field goal by Isidro Hernandez before the quarter ended and a 2-yard score in the second period by Devuntay Walker were too much for Mount Pleasant (1-7, 1-3) to overcome.

Texas High (7-0, 3-0) got a second short touchdown from Walker, a 46-yard pass and catch between quarterback Cade Pearson and Chris Sutton and a 27-yard field goal from Hernandez to put the game out of reach in the second half.

Mount Pleasant put up 206 yards, punted five times and turned the ball over twice to Texas High's 374 yards, one punt and zero turnovers.

Texas High receiver Quan Hampton had the best individual game among all offensive players. He caught 10 passes for 153 yards.

Mount Pleasant will travel to Sulphur Springs next week. Texas High simultaneously hosts Greenville for its next game.
