Kevin Shorter continues to reel in offers.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Newton football standout told ETSN.fm on Wednesday afternoon that he received an offer from Texas via defensive line coach Bo Davis.

"He came by to tell me after school," Shorter said via text.

Shorter also confirmed that the offer was for running back, where he led the Eagles with 1,810 yards and 31 touchdowns on 151 carries, averaging 12.0 yards per carry, in 2012. He caught 15 passes for 315 yards — 21.0 yards per catch — and four touchdowns.

Nebraska offered Shorter this past Saturday. Shorter told ETSN.fm last Wednesday morning that Army, Clemson, Florida State, Mississippi State, Ohio State, and San Diego State had offered him, pushing his offer list to 20 at the time. Shorter’s entire offer list is listed below.

Newton finished 13-1 with a Class 2A Division I Region III semifinal appearance in 2012. Shorter, who has been projected to the college level as a tailback, receiver, or defensive back, had 58 tackles and three interceptions as a safety for Newton this past fall.
