D'Luis West is yet another East Texan with the opportunity to continue his football career in college.

The senior Troup running back reported Butler has offered him a scholarship via his Twitter account late Tuesday.

The university is nationally known for its men's basketball program, but the Bulldogs have had considerable success in football as well. The squad finished the 2013 regular season with a 9-3 record and a trip to the first round of the FCS playoffs.

Butler's program has been a force in the Pioneer Football League recently. It won the 2012 league titled and tied for a share of first-place last season.

Bulldogs head coach Jeff Voris has a connection to the State of Texas. He was a graduate assistant at Texas in the early 1990s before beginning a lower-level Midwest circuit as an assistant coach with Edinboro and DePauw.

After a five-year stint as the head coach at Carroll College in Wisconsin, Voris signed on with Butler in 2006 and has a 50-40 record -- 17 wins in the past two seasons.

West (5-8, 210) helps make up a very promising backfield for Troup.

The running back's stature makes him a load to bring down. He has a nice power base and deceptive speed for his size.

Paired with Tigers quarterback Blake Lynch, a Baylor commitment, Troup should have a nice one-two offensive punch this season.
