BULLARD -- The combination of Meredith Daly and Bri Ridgley led the Bullard Lady Panthers to a sweep of their dual volleyball match with Jacksonville and Bullard Brook Hill on Tuesday.

Daly had eight kills and two blocks, while Ridgley added 14 assists in the Lady Panthers' 25-17, 25-12, 25-22 sweep of Bullard Brook Hill.

In its first match, Bullard was powered by Daly's 10 kills and two blocks and 12 assists from Ridgley in a 25-20, 25-23, 25-23 sweep of Jacksonville.

Bullard (2-1), swept in its season-opener on Monday against Pine Tree, quickly put to rest any potential lingering effects from the day before against Jacksonville.

In addition to the efforts of Daly and Ridgley, Mackenzie Fish contributed four aces from the service line and six digs on defense. Julia Frisby added five digs and two kills.

Against Brook Hill, Fish filled up the stat sheet with seven kills, three aces and five digs. Madi Hodges added three aces and seven digs, while Mallory McCoy came through with three aces and five assists.

Bullard continues its season Thursday and Saturday in the Carthage tournament. Next up for Jacksonville is the Palestine Westwood Tournament starting Thursday.

 

Longview sweeps Arp, Kilgore

KILGORE -- Longview got seven kills and four blocks from sophomore Halee Brewer, while Antoinesha Cox had 15 digs as the Lady Lobos swept Arp 25-23, 25-18, 25-18. Longview also swept Kilgore 25-20, 25-13, 25-15 behind 11 kills apiece from Brewer and NaQwavian Nelson, who had five kills against Arp.

Longview's Jonae Thompson had 13 kills and nine aces during the two matches. A'Kia Mumphrey dished out 30 assists against Kilgore and 23 against Arp to accompany 12 aces total. Cox had 16 digs versus Kilgore, and Jordan Houser had 10. Houser had seven against Arp. Bradyn Jenkins added two kills and three blocks against Kilgore, while Aleesha Coffer had two kills and an ace.

Lauren Littlefield's strong all-around performance spurred Arp to a 27-25, 16-25, 25-17, 27-25 victory against Kilgore. Littlefield had eight kills, four aces, six digs, and one block.

Kayleigh Moore provided solid defense with 18 digs along with four kills and two aces. Sheyenne Atchley added 16 digs and one ace for Arp.

Littlefield had five kills, two digs and one ace against Longview.

Arp (1-1) plays Friday and Saturday in the Van Tournament. Longview (2-0) is in the Carthage Tournament from Thursday through Saturday with a dual match against New Diana and Lindale set for Friday. Kilgore plays in the Van Tournament  as well.

 

Pine Tree sweeps dual match vs. Richardson, Royse City

ROYSE CITY -- Pine Tree improved to 3-0 with a pair of sweeps in Royse City on Monday as Class 4A's No. 10 Lady Pirates topped Richardson 27-25, 25-22, 25-20 and Royse City 32-30, 25-20, 25-12.

Sophomore standout Sky Holmes had 12 kills against Richardson and nine against Royse City, while Mackenzie Richardson had seven digs in the first match and 10 kills in the second. Setter Emily Shelton dished out 17 assists versus Richardson and added 25 against Royse City. Shelton also went 28-for-28 from the service line in both contests.

Dee Patterson swatted six kills against Royse City, while Darby Davis had a team-high 10 digs.

Pine Tree competes in the North Forney Tournament starting Thursday.

 

Hawkins Rolls to Dual Sweep of Cross Roads, Grand Saline

GRAND SALINE -- The Hawkins volleyball season got off to a hot start with a pair of sweeps against Cross Roads and Grand Saline on Tuesday.

Hawkins defeated Cross Roads 25-13, 25-15, 25-15 and Grand Saline 25-23, 25-16, 25-18.

Against Cross Roads, senior Jaci Ledkins led the way with eight kills. Keiara Lemons and Abby Davis contributed four and three kills, respectively. They were set up by the setting of senior Kalee Williams, who dished out nine assists.

Davis and Kristina Beason provided stellar defense with six digs apiece.

In the win over Grand Saline, Lemons had a team-high 10 kills, followed by four from Ledkins and three from Samantha Smith. Williams and Cassidy Jennings teamed for 17 assists. On defense, Davis led the way with 16 digs. Following closely were Jennings and Williams, who combined for 24 digs.

Hawkins (2-0) plays host to its own tournament on Thursday and Saturday. Grand Saline's season resumes this weekend with the Van tournament Thursday-Saturday. Cross Roads competes in the Fairfield tourney Thursday and Saturday and faces Wills Point at home on Friday.

 

Elysian Fields 3, Queen City 0

TATUM -- The trio of Chesney Spears, Kaylee Prather and Janice Strange combined for 15 kills in Elysian Fields' 25-17, 25-13, 25-12 sweep of Queen City on Tuesday night.

Setter Cheyenne Morvan added 17 assists for Elysian Fields (1-0), which was also slated to play Tatum in the second half of its dual match.

Elysian Fields resumes play this weekend at the Carthage Tournament from Thursday through Saturday.

 

Hughes Springs 3, Rivercrest 0

BOGATA -- Chyenne Murphy had six kills and seven assists to key Hughes Springs' 25-18, 25-15, 25-15 sweep of Rivercrest on Tuesday night in the season-opener for both teams.

Tara Ellis added five kills and two aces, Kayla Watkins contributed four kills, seven assists and two aces and Jasmine Royal provided solid defense with five digs for the Lady Mustangs (1-0). Ashlin Roach was in on the action as well with four kills and two aces.

Hughes Springs' season resumes this weekend at the Mount Pleasant tournament Thursday-Saturday.
