Week 3 2A Poll: Undefeated Troup Tigers Crack the Rankings For the First Time

The top six spots in the ETSN.fm Class 2A Top 10 remained the same after Tatum, Newton, Daingerfield and several other East Texas stalwarts won games.

Tatum (3-0) held the top spot with a 40-28 win against Pleasant Grove, while No. 2 Newton (3-0) routed Orangefield 40-14. Third-ranked Daingerfield (2-1) beat Clarksville 21-6, and No. 4 Arp got a big road win in Elysian Fields, 43-13. That knocked Elysian Fields, which was No. 3 two weeks ago following its season-opening win vs. Corrigan-Camden, from ninth to out of this week's top 10 as the Yellow Jackets dip to 1-2.

No. 5 New Boston (3-0) made a case for being ranked in the top three with an impressive 47-7 blowout of Pittsburg. No. 6 Hughes Springs (3-0) did the same in a 28-6 victory against Redwater.

Jefferson moved to 3-0 and from No. 8 to No. 7 following its 46-8 win against Paul Pewitt. Troup was another team reaching the 3-0 mark after a 41-0 shutout of Quitman, which propelled the Tigers into the poll for the first time at No. 8.

Winnsboro (1-2) fell to a Class 3A school for the second consecutive week, but by virtue of schedule strength, the Red Raiders hung on to a spot in the weekly poll, falling from seventh to ninth after their 41-21 loss to Mineola. No. 10 Harmony (2-1) got its second consecutive win in a 46-0 rout of Ore City.
