Arkansas + Baylor Offer Newton’s Josh Foster

Newton juniors Darwin Barlow and Tamauzia Brown have gotten their fair share of recruiting attention in recent weeks, but it's another Eagles 2019 prospect who made a big splash Saturday.

Josh Foster, a 2019 Newton ATH, added Division I FBS scholarship offers from both Arkansas and Baylor. He reported the news via Twitter.

They are the first offers from a Power 5 program for Foster (6-0, 165), who previously received FBS offers from Arkansas State and Louisiana-Monroe.

Foster played on both sides of the ball during Newton's 15-0 run to the Class 3A Division II state championship in 2017.

At quarterback, he passed for 1,977 yards with 30 touchdowns and seven interceptions and ran for 553 yards and 15 additional scores. Foster was also used sparingly at defensive back, a position he might play at the next level.

Arkansas is under new management with ex-SMU head coach Chad Morris in charge. He brought with him assistant coach Jeff Traylor, a former high school coach in East Texas at Gilmer.

The Razorbacks were 4-8 overall last season and 1-7 in SEC play.

Baylor just wrapped its first season under coach Matt Rhule. The Bears were 1-11 in 2017.

Arkansas and Baylor have offered all three of Newton's 2019 Division I recruits -- Foster, Barlow, and Brown.

Foster, like all juniors, is first eligible to sign with any Division I programs that offer him in December of 2018.
