Arkansas Offers Newton’s Tamauzia Brown

The college coaches are making their way to Newton this offseason in search of future players, and one SEC school in particular made a big splash Thursday.

Newton 2019 WR/CB Tamauzia Brown (6-1, 170) was one of three Eagles offered by the University of Arkansas, he reported via Twitter.

Arkansas, under first-year head coach Chad Morris, also reached out to 2019 RB Darwin Barlow and 2020 DE James Sylvester on Thursday.

In addition to Arkansas, Brown holds offers from Arkansas State, Baylor, Oklahoma State, San Diego State, Southern Miss, and UTSA.

Brown is a legitimate two-way threat at the next level.

In helping Newton to a perfect 15-0 season and the Class 3A Division II state championship in 2017, Brown put up gaudy numbers on both side of the ball.

As a receiver, Brown caught 54 passes for 867 and 13 touchdowns while rushing for 565 yards and five TD's on just 50 attempts.

But it was on defense where he made the biggest impact as a cornerback by recording an East Texas-best 12 interceptions

Morris, previously at SMU, took over the Arkansas program from Bret Bielema last month. He has with him Jeff Traylor as associate head coach and running backs coach. Traylor is a native of Gilmer where he also coached the Buckeyes to three state championships in 15 seasons from 2000-14.

Brown, like all juniors, is first eligible to sign with any team that offers him in December 2018.
