Arkansas-Pine Bluff Offers Jefferson’s Eric Gipson
It was only a matter of time for Eric Gipson.
Gipson, a 2019 defensive end at Jefferson, tweeted Tuesday that Arkansas-Pine Bluff became the second school to offer him a scholarship.
Gipson (6-2, 205) was a force along the defensive front for Jefferson in 2017. He finished his junior season with 137 tackles (25 for loss) with 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception.
Jefferson was 10-2 last season, reaching the area round of the Class 3A Division I playoffs.
Gipson took both Defensive Line and Overall Defensive MVP at the ETSN/APEC combine on May 20. Most notably, he ran a 4.43 40-yard dash.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff competes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference of the NCAA's FCS subdivision. The Golden Lions finished 2-9 this past season.
Gipson, like all juniors, is first eligible to sign with any school that offers him beginning in December.
