TEXARKANA — Texas High and Liberty-Eylau lit up the scoreboard, combing for 994 yards of total offense, and it was the Tigers who emerged victorious after thwarting a late surge by the Leopards, 48-39, Friday at Tiger Stadium at Grim Park.

Texas High quarterback Cade Pearson connected on 16 of 21 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns, and his teammates scored on defense and special teams.

The Leopards rolled up 612 yards of total offense and scored 20 points in the fourth quarter.

Decorian Phillips was 19 of 32 for 225 yards with a pair of TD tosses to Darian Walker, covering 41 and 19 yards.

Kevin Florence rushed 11 times for 166 yards for L-E (0-3) and scored twice, including a 79-yard jaunt early in the third quarter to cut into the Tigers’ 27-12 halftime lead.

Quan Hampton had a punt return for a TD on the Tigers’ first touch of the ball and he also caught a 41-yard bomb from Pearson. Eric Sutton returned a fumble 81 yards for Texas High to go up 20-6.

Phillips had an 8-yard TD run, but Pearson connected with Tevailance Hunt on a 41-yard strike just before half.

Hampton hauled in six balls for 107 yards, and Walker had four catches for 100 yards for the Leopards.
