Carthage Earns Run-Rule Victory Over Canton In First Game Of Area Round Series

BULLARD -- Carthage has the series lead in the Class 4A area round thanks to a 10-0 win against Canton in five innings Friday at Bullard Brook Hill.

Taylor Willis got a complete game shutout win in the circle. She struck out nine batters and allowed two hits through the course of the game.

Chelcie Pierce led the way offensive with a 3 for 3 day, including two RBIs and two runs scored.

Carson Robertson went 2 for 3 from the batter's box. Both of her hits were doubles, and she scored a run herself as well as recording two RBIs.

Carthage will face Canton once again today at noon at Brook Hill. A third game, if necessary, will be played shortly afterward at the same site.
