CEDAR HILL – The Cedar Hill Longhorns rolled past John Tyler, 57-7, Friday night at Longhorn Stadium in both teams’ season opener.

Cedar Hill (1-0) limited the Lions (0-1) to minus-14 rushing yards and forced two turnovers.

Quarterback Shayne Lawrence passed for 241 yards and three touchdowns, while Corie Allen rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only four carries. Quin Bright had three catches for 108 yards and a TD, while Zakhari Johnson had three receptions for 90 yards and two scores.

John Tyler’s Xavier Allen filled in for starting quarterback Devlen Woods, who was injured in the first half and did not return. Allen finished 7 of 12 for 183 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Nathaniel Hall caught two passes for 92 yards, including a 68-yard touchdown.

John Tyler returns to action next Saturday night at home against Tyler Lee.
