BULLARD-- Carlisle looked done.

Trailing by 17 points in the first half, the Indians were staring elimination in the face. They decided they didn't quite like the idea.

The Indians defeated Kerens 41-31 on Saturday behind a second half comeback to advance to the regional round of the 2A playoffs. Carlisle scored 33 of the final 39 points. It got defensive stops behind Gerald Turner, the reigning defensive player of the week. He recorded two interceptions after posting four the previous week.

When Tristan Craig crossed the goal line on a quarterback sneak to put Carlisle in front in the third quarter, it seemed as if fate wanted this.

Carlisle was outgained 573 to 263, but still used its defense to come up big in the second half.

Carlisle will face district rival San Augustine at 6 p.m. Saturday in Carthage.
