Emory Rains Keeps It Close Against Wylie Ahead Of Big Weekend

SACHSE -- Emory Rains geared up for this weekend's big Garland ISD Volleyball Tournament with a tune-up game Thursday against Wylie from Class 5A.

The Lady Cats fell in four sets, 25-16, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23. Five combined points away from taking the third and fourth frames.

Charlotte Bradshaw, Corely Cole and Ashley Gowin tied for the Rains team lead in scoring with 12 kills apiece. Cole also had nine blocks in the match.

Shelbi Sheppard led the team with 18 assists. Courtney Luckett finished Thursday with 20 digs.

The Lady Cats will open play in Garland today at 3 p.m. against Dallas Christian. They'll follow that match up with a meeting against El Paso Andress at 5 p.m.
