The Woodville Eagles are in the midst of an historic run. They have made the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, and their 19 wins the previous two years are the program's most in a two-year span.

And with 14 starters returning from last year's area finalist, there's no reason to think the good mojo won't continue.

Woodville begins the year ranked No. 10 in the ETSN.fm Preseason Class 3A Poll.

The Eagles have won 12 consecutive district games entering the 2018 season, and with District 12-3A Division I remaining intact through realignment, all signs point to another league championship.

Among the eight returning starters on offense are running backs Zack Martin and Da'Michael Brooks, who each went over 1,000 yards in 2017. Throw in an experienced offensive line, anchored by Drew Poncho and Seth Fabela, and Woodville's ground attack should be even better this fall.

The defense is led by its outstanding duo of linebackers -- Marcos Broom and Kobe Adams.

Woodville must once again navigate through a difficult Region III once it makes the playoffs. Standing in the way are defending state champ Rockdalle, which eliminated Woodville in the area round last year, and perennial powers Grandview, Teague, and Cameron Yoe.

Challenges could also await from the neighboring District 11, which features Diboll (a playoff team from Class 4A in 2017), Franklin, and Crockett.
