The Sulphur Springs Wildcats were thrown into a very unfamiliar district when the UIL's biennial realignment and reclassification came down in February.

They were in effect taken out of East Texas, now belonging to District 8-5A Division II along with Corsicana, Ennis, Forney, Greenville, Kaufman, North Forney, Royse City, and Terrell.

Sulphur Springs has 11 starters returning from last year's 5-6 bi-district finalist, and is ranked No. 9 in ETSN.fm's Preseason Class 6A/6A Poll.

Head coach Greg Owens is entering his 13th year with the Wildcats, who are currently riding a streak of four consecutive losing seasons.

In order to change the trend, Sulphur Springs will need big seasons from its offensive playmakers, led by quarterback D'Corian Young, running back Colton Allen, and receivers Austin Dodd and Landry Tyson.

The linebacking corps will be the strength of the Wildcats' defense with Kylan Wade, Bryce McQueen, and Cason Churchman leading the way.
