In this week's installment of the ETSN.fm Podcast, our Clint Buckley and Chandler Vessels discuss last week's opening week of the football season, look ahead to Week 2, and offer their thoughts on a tragedy that befell the East Texas region over the weekend.

What jumped out to us in Week 1? A few things, not the least of which was defending champion Carthage's emphatic start to the season.

Speaking of Carthage, the top-ranked Bulldogs have Liberty-Eylau coming to town Friday night. How will the Dawgs' defense fare against an L-E offense that hung 57 points on No. 2 Gilmer in a loss last week?

There are also a trio of big rivalry games on the horizon this week: Marshall vs. Longview, Nacogdoches vs. Lufkin, and the border war between Texas High and Arkansas High, which is sure to have very emotional undertones.

Leonard Parks, Texas High's start defensive end, passed away over the weekend, impacting the lives of several people in and around the Texarkana community.

We at ETSN.fm offer up our sincerest condolences to everyone affected by Parks' passing.

Stay with us every week, as we'll release a fresh podcast every Wednesday evening throughout the course of the football season.

If you have any questions or comments (good or bad), feel free to message either Clint Buckley or Chandler Vessels on Twitter.
