BECKVILLE -- Beckville continued on its tear but did receive a good test from Carlisle on the way to a 25-11, 25-15, 25-22 win Friday.

The Lady Bearcats are now 27-4 and a perfect 5-0 in District 20-2A.

Carley Lawhorn led Beckville in scoring with 10 kills. Carson Blair scored on nine kills. Kassidy Alexander turned in the best all-around offensive performance with 28 assists in the three-set sweep.

The Lady Bearcats, the No. 5 team in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association's Class 2A poll, will be back in action Tuesday for a district game at Leverett's Chapel.

 

John Tyler Takes Down Tatum

TATUM -- The Lady Lions hit the road for a non-district game against Tatum on Friday and won, 25-18, 25-21, 27-25.

Deedy Rouege recorded 10 kills for John Tyler in the match and was stellar serving the ball into play with a team-best 18 serves in the match. She also had 11 digs in the match.

Chenique Baxter paced the Lady Lions with a team-best 11 kills and 13 digs.

Dazminique Johnson had three blocks in Friday's match in addition to five kills.

JT will host Whitehouse on Tuesday.

 

Whitehouse Rolls Over Corsicana

CORSICANA -- District 16-5A play continued Friday despite JT participating in a non-district match.

Whitehouse swept Corsicana, 25-23, 25-18, 25-17 and put up some outstanding numbers along the way, especially considering how short the match was.

Ronnie Fountain did her part with 36 assists. She fed Beth Hood and Ashton Ates who combined for 29 kills.

Amanda Dimon led the team in the digs department with 29. Kelly Keller recorded 15 digs in addition to seven kills.

Whitehouse will visit John Tyler on Tuesday.

 

Van Moves To 6-0 In District 14-4A

VAN -- The Lady Vandals wasted little time in a sweep against Brownsboro on Friday.

Van won the match, 25-12, 25-8, 25-19 to move to 6-0 in District 14-4A and a 28-9 record overall.

M'Kenna Daniel had an outstanding all-around match with 17 assists, six digs and an ace. Hallee Carter led the team with nine kills, two blocks and six digs on the defensive side of things.

Bri Thompson and Jasiee Harris also had standout games with a combined 10 kills and 11 digs. Harris led the team with two aces.

Van will next host Mabank on Friday. Brownsboro will return home to take on Emory Rains on Tuesday.

 

Winona Falls To Edgewood

WINONA -- The Lady Wildcats did not get the W in its District 14-3A battle with Edgewood, but they had a good showing and some impressive numbers in the match.

Winona fell 24-26, 19-25, 25-21, 19-25 at its home gym.

Bailey Daniels had 24 assists in the match. Kawaii Gordon led the team with 18 kills and had a team second-best 16 digs.

Janeth Tarango finished first in digs with 25. Randaysha Hanson reached double-digit kills with 11.

Stats from Edgewood were not submitted.

Winona will visit Alba-Golden on Tuesday. Edgewood will resume action Friday against Quitman.
