Georgia Offers Carthage’s Keaontay Ingram
One of the East Texas' most high-profile recruits received a new Division I FBS scholarship offer on Sunday.
Carthage running back Keaontay Ingram, widely regarded as the state's best at his position, reported via Twitter of an offer from Georgia.
Ingram (6-0, 200), who committed to Texas back in May, now has 28 FBS offers.
Georgia is the seventh program from the Southeastern Conference to extend him an offer, joining Arkansas, LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Texas A&M.
Ingram, who led Carthage to the Class 4A Division I state championship as a junior, is off to a strong start this season. He leads the top-ranked Bulldogs in rushing with almost 700 yards and eight touchdowns in five games.
Georgia, under second-year head coach Kirby Smart, is also undefeated on the year. The Bulldogs are 6-0 and 3-0 in the SEC, outscoring their first three conference opponents by a combined score of 117-17.
They are currently ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, and are fifth in the Coaches Poll.
Ingram and Carthage (5-0, 1-0) face Kilgore (5-1, 2-0) in a pivotal District 9-4A Division I contest Friday night at Carthage's Bulldog Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Like all senior players, Ingram is first eligible to sign with any Division I school that offers him in December.
