LONGVIEW -- The Gilmer Buckeyes survived a scare from Spring Hill by thwarting a two-point conversion attempt in the fourth quarter for a 20-18 win Friday night in the District 6-4A Division II opener for both teams.

Gage White's 38-yard touchdown pass to Morgan Bradford with 8:29 to play got Spring Hill (2-5, 0-1) to within two points but the two-point try was unsuccessful.

Daryl Bush's 2-yard touchdown gave Gilmer a 20-12 lead late third quarter.

Mason Hurt tossed a touchdown to Tra Fluellen, and Larry Montgomery ran for the other Gilmer (4-3, 1-0) touchdown.

White ran for two touchdowns in his addition to his scoring pass for Spring Hill.

Gilmer plays host to Pleasant Grove next week, while Spring Hill plays at Liberty-Eylau.
