Henderson’s Keivie Rose Offered By Southern Miss

Southern Miss is beginning to establish a strong presence in the East Texas recruiting scene. The Golden Eagles offered four regional prospects on Monday.

Henderson 2019 defensive end Keivie Rose reported on Twitter that Southern Miss became the fifth Division I FBS program to offer him overall.

Rose (6-4, 220) also holds invitations from Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, SMU, and Tulane.

In addition to Rose, Southern Miss offered Texas High 2019 quarterback Coltin Clack, Tatum 2018 offensive lineman Drake Centers, and Longview 2019 offensive lineman Marcus Williams on Monday.

USM has now offered 12 East Texas recruits in the 2018 and 2019 classes.

Members of the Golden Eagles staff were in Marshall for a satellite camp alongside coaches from Texas, Texas State and host East Texas Baptist on Monday morning.

Second-year head coach Jay Hopson led Southern Miss to a 6-6 regular season and a win against Louisiana-Lafayette in the New Orleans Bowl his first season.

Rose recorded 12 tackles for Henderson as a sophomore, including two for loss. He also recovered two fumbles.

While his numbers don’t pop out on the stat sheet, at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, colleges like where he is at the size standpoint so early in his career. With a lot of Henderson depth wiped off the board due to upcoming graduations, Rose should have a much larger role in future seasons.

Rose and the rest of the returning letter winners will represent a Henderson program that might have been the state’s best to not win the Class 4A Division I title last season. District foe Carthage won the grand prize a few weeks after beating Henderson by two points in the third round of the postseason.

Henderson defeated Carthage during district play toward a 9-1 regular season record.

Rose will first become eligible to sign with any program that offers him in December of 2018.
