John Tyler’s Rod Hawkins Jr. Offered By Alabama A&M
The first Division I scholarship offer arrived Thursday for John Tyler 2019 running back Rod Hawkins Jr.
Alabama A&M reached out to the Lions' back, according to a tweet from John Tyler head football coach Ricklan Holmes.
The Bulldogs offered Hawkins' teammate, 2020 QB Khalan Griffin, on Wednesday.
Hawkins (5-8, 180) was second on the team in rushing last season with 449 yards and five touchdowns on 49 carries. He also caught six passes for 69 yards and a TD for John Tyler, which finished 5-5 in 2017.
Alabama A&M is a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs, who hired Connell Maynor as its new head coach, were 4-7 overall and 3-3 in league play last season.
Hawkins, like all juniors, is first eligible to sign with any program that offers him in December.
