CARTHAGE -- Kason Davis threw two touchdown passes and Jase Dixon returned a fumble 98 yards for a touchdown as the fifth-ranked Carthage Bulldogs defeated the Whitehouse Wildcats, 23-13, Friday in non-district action at Bulldog Stadium.

Davis capped scoring drives of 89 and 48 yards with touchdown passes to Dee Bowens and Dewaylon Ingram -- both in the first half.

Dixon set up his own touchdown by stripping Wildcats running back Braylon Shackleford near the Carthage goal line, then running the length of the field untouched to hand the Bulldogs a 20-0 lead midway through the third quarter.

Shackleford's fumble was one of five Whitehouse turnovers in the game.

Wildcats starting quarterback Tanner Roach was injured on a fumble late in the first half and did not return, making him the third Whitehouse starter in as many weeks to leave a game with an injury and not return.

Backup quarterback Jake Clemons completed 14 of 30 passes for 209 yards and two second-half touchdowns, both to Zach Parker for 66 and 34 yards, respectively. Parker, a senior, leads the team with 16 catches for 270 yards and four touchdowns.

Whitehouse (2-1) is at Sulphur Springs next Friday, while Carthage (2-0) hosts Gilmer next Saturday night.
