Kilgore’s Jonathan Shepherd Offered By SFA
Kilgore receiver Jonathan Shepherd added his fifth Division I scholarship offer in seven days on Tuesday.
Shepherd (6-3, 196) announced via Twitter that Stephen F. Austin has offered him.
In addition to SFA, Shepherd also holds D-I offers from Colorado State, Florida Atlantic, Kansas State, and Louisiana-Monroe. He also has Division II opportunities from Arkansas-Monticello and Northeastern State.
Last season, in a predominantly run-oriented offense, Shepherd caught 17 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns. Kilgore shared the District 9-4A Division I title, and advanced to the area round of the playoffs, finishing with a 7-5 record.
SFA, the only Division I program located in East Texas, competes in the Southland Conference at the FCS level. The Lumberjacks are coached by Clint Conque, and are coming off a 5-6 season in 2016.
Shepherd, like all college football prospects currently in their junior year of high school, will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February.
