BEAUMONT – The West Orange-Stark Mustangs got the best of Jasper the second time around.

Kavyn Cooper’s 6-yard touchdown run with 2:42 remaining sent West Orange-Stark to a 21-14 win in their Class 4A Division II regional semifinal Friday night at Provost-Umphrey Stadium.

West Orange-Stark (9-4), which dropped a 34-24 decision to Jasper (12-1) in the regular season, will face Silsbee in the state quarterfinals next week.

Cooper’s game-winner came moments after the Mustangs recovered a Jasper fumble at the Bulldogs’ 13-yard line.

The Mustangs’ running back finished the night with 134 yards.
