Liberty-Eylau's Kylar Cooks Adds Two New Offers

The 2018 class of offensive lineman in East Texas is deep, and another member of that group added two new Division I FBS scholarship offers on Monday.

Liberty-Eylau's Kylar Cooks was offered by both Arkansas State and North Texas, according to the Leopards' coaching staff.

Cooks (6-5, 250) was previously offered by Texas State last month.

Arkansas State currently has six offers out to East Texans in the 2018 class, while North Texas has offered seven.

Last season, Cooks helped Liberty-Eylau to a 5-6 record and a berth in the Class 4A Division I bi-district round of the playoffs. He is a key piece of a solid nucleus of returning starters in 2017.

Other promising returnees include 2018 athlete Decorian Phillips, who started at quarterback as a sophomore, and 2019 standout Isaiah Cross, who spent the majority of his time at receiver in 2016.

Arkansas State is a member of the Sun Belt Conference. The Red Wolves are coached by Blake Anderson and coming off an 8-5 season in 2016, defeating Central Florida, 31-13, in the Cure Bowl.

Under Anderson, Arkansas State has appeared in bowl games in all three of his previous seasons.

North Texas is coming off a 5-8 season under first-year coach Seth Littrell. Despite the losing record, the Mean Green reached a bowl game for the first time since 2014.

UNT fell to Army, 38-31, in the Heart of Texas Bowl in Dallas.

Cooks, like all college football prospects currently in their junior year of high school, will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in December.
