LONGVIEW – Backed by a shutout night from the defense, Longview’s offense opened up a big halftime lead and that was all it took in commanding win over North Mesquite on Friday night.
Longview blanked North Mesquite through three quarters and the Lobos got touchdowns through the air, on the ground and in the kicking game in a 41-7 win over the Stallions in District 11-6A action here at Lobo Stadium.
Haynes King had a pair of touchdown passes, three different backs had rushing touchdowns and a pair of kickers added to the scoring for the Lobos, who improve to 3-1 in district action and 6-1 on the season.
Keilyn Williams had a four-yard scamper that sent Longview into halftime with a 24-0 lead. A’Darius Carter added to that in the third and Nigel Foster closed out the rout with a fourth-quarter score.
Both of King’s touchdown tosses went to Jaylin Brown on throws of 27 and 12 yards. King finished with 163 passing yards on the night and Longview added 160 on the ground.
Chris Kessler and JK Martin connected on field goals for Longview.
Defensively, Jalen Carr and Davotrick Dotrey pulled down interceptions.
North Mesquite got on the scoreboard in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter on a long touchdown pass. The Stallions finished with 139 rushing yards and 160 yards through the air.
