Longview Pulls Away From Mesquite to Close District, 55-24
LONGVIEW – Jessie Anderson and Keilyn Williams combined for five touchdowns as Longview broke open a close second-quarter game with a 55-24 win over Mesquite here Friday to close the books on an undefeated regular season.
Mesquite took a 24-20 lead midway through the second quarter before the Lobos, who will host Copperas Cove in the first round of the state playoffs, exploded for 35 unanswered points.
Williams toted for 105 yards including scoring scampers of 37 and five yards and Anderson had touchdown runs of 13 and two yards for the Lobos, who went 6-0 through the 11-6A gauntlet.
Kamden Perry hauled in 86 yards, including touchdowns catches of nine and 29 yards, from quarterback Haynes King, who tallied 189 yards in the win for Longview.
Kaden Meredith had a 27-yard touchdown run and the Lobos got a 76-yard kickoff return touchdown from Jacob Johnson.
