Lufkin’s Jerrin Thompson Reports Baylor Offer
They're coming for Jerrin Thompson.
A couple of days after reporting an offer from Oklahoma, Thompson, a 2020 DB at Lufkin, took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce an offer from another Big 12 school: Baylor.
Thompson (6-0, 170) also holds FBS offers from Arkansas, Oklahoma, SMU, South Florida, and Vanderbilt.
He is tied with Carthage ATH Kelvontay Dixon for second-most FBS offers among East Texas recruits in the 2020 class, trailing only Newton DE James Sylvester.
Last season, Thompson starred in the secondary for a Lufkin team that finished 11-3 and reached the Class 6A Division II state quarterfinals.
Thompson had 95 tackles (five for loss), four interceptions, seven pass break-ups, four forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries as a sophomore.
He is one of six current Lufkin players with Division I offers, along with DT Carl Williams (Arkansas commit), DE Breylon Garcia (Nevada), DE Javasia Brunson, WR Ja'Lynn Polk, and DB Damond McKelvey.
Baylor finished 1-11 this past season and competes in the Big 12. Matt Rhule is entering his second season as the Bears' coach.
Thompson, like all juniors, is first eligible to sign with any school that offers him in December 2019.
