Lufkin’s Malik Jackson Offered By Tulane

The committed status of Lufkin senior receiver Malik Jackson has not stopped other schools from their pursuit. On Tuesday, a new program entered the fray.

Jackson (5-8, 163) announced via Twitter that Tulane became the fourth Division I FBS school to offer. He has been committed to the University of Houston since June 14.

In addition to Tulane and Houston, Jackson also holds FBS offers from Arkansas State and Texas State.

Jackson is the 10th East Texans prospect in the 2018 class to receive an offer from Tulane. As of now, only two of them are currently uncommitted -- Henderson quarterback Trae Hall and Nacogdoches safety DaRyan Williams.

The Lufkin standout has had a strong start to the 2017 season. Through his team's first four games, Jackson has caught 26 passes for 230 yards and four touchdowns. He has also rushed for 121 yards and two scores, and posted a combined 404 kick and punt return yards.

Last season, Jackson had 52 receptions for 1,017 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Jackson and his Lufkin (4-1) teammates face No. 9 The Woodlands at home this Friday night in District 12-6A action. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Tulane is a member of the American Athletic Conference. The Green Wave is 2-2 (0-1) so far this season, and they'll meet Tulsa at home this Saturday.

Jackson, like all players in their senior year of high school, is first eligible to sign with any Division I program that offers him in December.
