Malakoff Ousts Gladewater With Impressive 35-7 Win

TYLER – The Malakoff Tigers rode their defense and big plays from Andreas Garrett to the regional finals.

Garrett racked up 176 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns, leading Malakoff to a 35-7 win over Gladewater in their Class 3A Division I regional semifinal Saturday at Christus TMF Rose Stadium.

Malakoff (10-2) will face Atlanta (8-5) in the state quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday from Pirate Stadium in Longview.

Gladewater finished its season at 11-2.

Bears sophomore running back Eli Carter finished the day with 150 yards rushing in the loss.
