MARSHALL -- J.J. Green put up 331 yards of offense and accounted for four touchdowns to lead the Marshall Mavericks past Sulphur Springs, 50-20, Friday night at Maverick Stadium.

The win was the second in a row for Marshall (2-4, 2-0) to begin District 16-5A play, while Sulphur Springs (2-4, 0-2) dropped its fourth straight.

Green passed for 222 yards and three scores, and led the Mavericks on the ground with 110 yards and a touchdown.

Tahj Washington had a pair of scoring receptions, while Se'Lah Smith, who finished with 96 receiving yards, had the other.

Rodarius Smith ran for 97 yards and a touchdown for Marshall, which rolled up 485 yards of offense as a team.

Ryan Humphries threw for 115 yards, while Colton Allen rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown to lead Sulphur Springs.

Each team's season resumes next Friday. Sulphur Springs hosts Texas High (2-3, 0-1), while Marshall travels to Mount Pleasant (1-5, 0-2).
