Minnesota Latest to Offer Longview’s Haynes King
It's been quite the week for Longview junior quarterback Haynes King, who picked up his third Division I FBS scholarship offer in as many days on Wednesday.
The Lobos quarterback was offered by Minnesota, according to Longview head coach John King.
Haynes King (6-3, 180) was offered by TCU on Monday and Missouri on Tuesday. He also holds FBS offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Houston, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, North Texas, Southern Miss, Texas State, and Tulsa.
His 13 FBS offers are the most among East Texans in the 2020 recruiting class.
The Longview quarterback is re-writing the record books in 2018. In last Saturday's 63-17 playoff win over Prosper, he eclipsed the school mark for single-season touchdown passes.
He has thrown for 2,811 yards with 35 touchdowns and only one interception, and added 315 rushing yards and five touchdowns this season.
Haynes King and Longview (12-0) will face Austin Vandegrift (12-0) in a Class 6A Division II, Region II semifinal at 6 p.m. Saturday from Baylor University's McLane Stadium in Waco.
Minnesota is a member of the Big Ten Conference and is coached by P.J. Fleck. The Golden Gophers are 6-6 overall in 2018, and finished 3-6 in conference play.
Haynes King, like all juniors, is first eligible to sign with any program that offers him in December of 2019.
