New Mexico State is the latest program to reach out to LaMarcus Morton.

The Aggies contacted the rising senior Gilmer receiver Thursday and presented him with his 12th FBS college choice. Morton reported the news through his personal Twitter account.

Coached by Doug Martin, New Mexico State increased its overall record to 3-9 in 2015. Martin's first two teams experienced 2-10 campaigns.

Morton (6-2, 175) is the first football prospect within East Texas' 2017 recruiting class to garner attention from the Aggies program.

Former John Tyler defensive lineman Jassavia Reese was the most recent prospect to sign with New Mexico State. He started five games last season and made appearances in all 12 contests as a true freshman.

The 2016 season will be the Aggies' third in the Sun Belt Conference.

Gilmer’s ball distribution was wild last season with 17 receivers on the team catching at least one pass. Of those 17 players, 10 receivers caught for at least 100 yards while the offense put up an additional 3,158 rushing yards en route to the Class 4A Division II state semifinals.

Morton led all of GIlmer’s receivers by 118 yards in his first season as a full-time varsity player, and some of the other receivers from the 2015 team graduated earlier this month. There’s potential for an even bigger individual campaign as a senior.

Like all high school football prospects entering their senior year, Morton will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February.

Morton's current FBS offer list is rounded out by Arkansas State, Colorado State, Houston, Indiana, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Texas Tech, Tulsa and UTSA.
