The ninth Division I scholarship offer arrived Tuesday for Newton 2019 offensive lineman Caiden Walker.

The Eagles' standout reported via Twitter that Lamar has offered.

Walker (6-4, 276) has additional FBS offers from Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, Tulane, and UTEP, and FCS opportunities from McNeese State, Northwestern State, and Stephen F. Austin.

Newton has five players with FBS offers. In addition to Walker, 2019 RB Darwin Barlow, 2019 ATH Tamauzia Brown, 2019 QB/ATH Josh Foster, and 2020 DE James Sylvester currently have FBS opportunities.

Last season, Walker anchored an offensive line that helped Newton finish 15-0 and as the Class 3A Division II state champions.

Lamar is an FCS school that competes in the Southland Conference. The Cardinals are coached by Mike Schultz and finished 2017 with a record of 2-9 (1-8 in conference).

Walker, like all incoming seniors, can sign with any team that offers him beginning in December.
