Newton's Darwin Barlow + Tamauzia Brown Pledge TCU

Two of East Texas' top recruits are committed.

Darwin Barlow and Tamauzia Brown, teammates at Newton, both tweeted their commitment to TCU on Thursday evening.

Brown and Barlow join athlete and teammate Josh Foster, Jacksonville defensive back Deshaun McCuin and Longview offensive lineman Marcus Williams as East Texas players from 2019 who have committed to the Horned Frogs.

Last season in helping Newton win the Class 3A Division II state championship, Brown starred on both sides of the ball. He finished as East Texas' interceptions leader with 12, while also posting a combined 1,432 yards rushing and receiving and 18 total touchdowns.

Barlow starred in the backfield, racking up 2,246 yards rushing and an area-leading 38 rushing touchdowns.

TCU competes in the Big 12, where it finished runner up to Oklahoma in 2017. The Horned Frogs finished 11-3, including a victory against Stanford in the Alamo Bowl.

Barlow and Foster, like all seniors, are first eligible to sign with any school that offers them beginning in December.
