Newton’s Josh Foster Commits to TCU
The second of Newton's four Division I FBS recruits in the 2019 class has made his college decision.
Eagles ATH Josh Foster announced his commitment to TCU via Twitter on Friday evening.
Foster (6-0, 165) chose TCU over Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, and Utah, among others.
He is the third area player in the 2019 cycle to commit to TCU, joining Jacksonville DB Deshawn McCuin and Longview OL Marcus Williams.
Foster is one of four Newton incoming seniors with FBS offers. Offensive lineman Caiden Walker committed to Louisiana Tech earlier this summer, while WR/DB Tamauzia Brown and RB Darwin Barlow remain undecided.
Both Brown and Barlow hold TCU offers.
Foster played mostly quarterback last season for Newton, which cruised to the Class 3A Division II state championship. He finished his junior year with 1,977 passing yards and 30 touchdowns.
But Foster is most likely going to play defensive back at the next level, a position he got accustomed to as a sophomore.
TCU is coached by Gary Patterson. The Horned Frogs were 11-3 (7-2 in the Big 12) last season.
Foster's commitment is non-binding. He is first eligible to sign with TCU in December.
