Newton continued to grab the recruiting headlines in East Texas as 2019 ATH Josh Foster added a new Division I scholarship offer on Wednesday.

Foster (6-0, 165) announced via Twitter that McNeese State became the third school to offer.

The Eagles' standout also has FBS offers from Arkansas State and Louisiana-Monroe.

Newton currently has four players with FBS offers in the 2019 and 2020 classes -- Foster, RB Darwin Barlow, and WR/CB Tamauzia Brown in 2019, along with 2020 DE James Sylvester.

Foster played on both sides of the ball during Newton's 15-0 run to the Class 3A Division II state championship in 2017.

At quarterback, he passed for 1,977 yards with 30 touchdowns and seven interceptions and ran for 553 yards and 15 additional scores. Foster was also used sparingly at defensive back, a position he might play at the next level.

McNeese State, located in Lake Charles, La., is an FCS school that participates in the Southland Conference. The Cowboys are coached by Lance Guidry and are coming off a 9-2 record in 2017.

Foster, like all juniors, is first eligible to sign with any Division I programs that offer him in December of 2018.
