CARTHAGE -- Gunner Capps threw three touchdown passes and top-ranked Carthage used a huge first half to beat Chapel Hill, 49-20, on Friday night to finish off a perfect regular season.

The Bulldogs (10-0, 6-0 in District 9-4A Division I) will take the top seed in the bi-district round of the 4A Division I playoffs next week.

Capps threw two touchdowns to Dee Bowman and another to Callahan Baldree in a 42-point first half for Carthage. Texas commit Keoantay Ingram also ran for two touchdowns the first half.

Carthage, which has scored at least 41 points in every game so far this season, racked up 637 yards of total offense, including 376 on the ground. Capps finished 16 of 24 passing for 261 yards in the win.

Mykel Gates and Tucker Smith also added touchdown runs for Carthage.

Carthage scored the game's first 28 points before Hunter Brannin put Chapel Hill on the board with an 88-yard kickoff return with 8:54 left in the first half.

Carthage led 42-13 at the break.

Chapel Hill ended its season 3-7 overall and 0-6 in the District of Doom.
