Northwestern State Offers Jefferson’s Eric Gipson
The third Division I scholarship offer arrived Saturday for Jefferson 2019 defensive end Eric Gipson.
The Bulldogs' standout announced via Twitter that Northwestern State has offered.
Gipson (6-1, 189) was previously offered by Arkansas-Pine Bluff and McNeese State.
Last season, Gipson was a force along the defensive front for Jefferson. He finished his junior season with 137 tackles (25 for loss) with 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception.
Jefferson was 10-2 last season, reaching the area round of the Class 3A Division I playoffs.
Gipson took both Defensive Line and Overall Defensive MVP at the ETSN/APEC combine on May 20. Most notably, he ran an event-best 4.43-second 40-yard dash.
Northwestern State is an FCS school that competes in the Southland Conference. The Demons are coached by Brad Laird and finished 2017 with an overall record of 4-7 (4-5 in conference).
Gipson, like all incoming seniors, is first eligible to sign with any school that offers him beginning in December.
