Plano John Paul II Pulls Away From Brook Hill, 48-29
BULLARD -- The Plano John Paul II Cardinals handed the Bullard Brook Hill Guard their first setback of the new season, 48-29, in the fourth annual Warrior Bowl, held at Herrington Stadium on Friday night.
The visitors got 278 yards rushing and three touchdowns from running back Donavyn Lester to lead to the victory.
After a 14-14 first-quarter tie, the Cardinals put up 16 points to take a 30-14 halftime lead.
The Cardinals then took control in the second half to make it a 48-22 score going into the final period.
Brook Hill quarterback Khalan Griffin had a great game with 116 yards on 16 carries and two scores. Griffin also threw for another 120 yards, going 7-for-14 and one TD pass to Garrett Davis, who caught four passes for 90 yards and the TD in the loss.
The two tams rolled to a combined 852 yards in the game.
The Guard (1-1) will trek to Huntington next Friday, looking to get back in the win column. John Paul II (2-0) will entertain Dallas Christian.
