Pleasant Grove Takes Out Pittsburg in District Opener
TEXARKANA -- Despite jumping out to an early lead, Pittsburg couldn't overcome Pleasant Grove on Friday, falling 45-20.
Pittsburg scored the first two touchdowns of the game. Jaylon Jimmerson threw a 12-yard touchdown to Keontae Burns to open the scoring and following that with a 49-yard touchdown to Keithlen Griffin.
However, Pleasant Grove answered with four straight touchdowns to take the lead for good. Brett Walker's 59-yard touchdown reception was good for the go-ahead score.
Griffin finished with 200 yards receiving and two touchdowns. James Wiggins led Pleasant Grove with 85 yards rushing and Ben Harmon threw for three touchdowns.
Pleasant Grove improved to 5-2 and 1-0 in District 6-4A Division II. Pittsburg fell to 4-3 and 0-1.
