BECKVILLE -- The Ladycats, ranked No.1 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association's Class 2A poll, got off to a strong start in District 9-2A with a 25-16, 25-13, 25-15 win against a good Gary team. Beckville (25-1, 1-0) was led by Carson Blair and Kinley Blair. Both played scored seven points in the match.

ONALASKA -- Mason Huffines did it all for Elkhart in a 10-0, six-inning win against Onalaska in the two team's District 21-3A opener Wednesday. It began and ended with the senior pitcher. He pitched a one-hit game and ended it at the plate with a three-run homer, a hit which forced the umpires to call the game an inning early in favor of the Elks (6-3, 1-0).

GILMER -- Immediately following a hard fought win against Gilmer in the 2014 Macy Chenevert Patriot Classic last month, Bullard knew it would have its hands full facing the Lady Buckeyes in district play. Gilmer came up just short of evening the season series, a 37-34 victory for Bullard in District 16-4A play.
