The flurry of recruiting activity for Kilgore 2018 receiver Jonathan Shepherd continued on Thursday with another major Division I FBS scholarship offer.

TCU became the seventh FBS program to offer Shepherd (6-3, 196), he announced on Twitter.

Shepherd has picked up all seven FBS offers in the last nine days. He also has invitations from Colorado State, Florida Atlantic, Kansas State, Louisiana-Monroe, New Mexico, and Oregon State.

The Kilgore playmaker has also been offered by Stephen F. Austin (FCS) and Division II programs Arkansas-Monticello and Northeastern State.

Last season, in a predominantly run-oriented offense, Shepherd caught 17 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns. Kilgore shared the District 9-4A Division I title, and advanced to the area round of the playoffs, finishing with a 7-5 record.

Shepherd is the fifth East Texan in the 2018 class with a TCU offer. He joins Van offensive lineman Kris Dike, Marshall offensive lineman and LSU commit Chasen Hines, Carthage running back Keaontay Ingram, and Arp safety DeMarvion Overshown.

TCU dropped to a 6-6 regular season record last season from an 11-2 record in 2015, but its finish was good enough for a Liberty Bowl appearance, albeit a loss to Georgia. The Horned Frogs have an active bowl streak of three seasons and have reached a bowl game 15 times in head coach Gary Patterson’s 17 years.

Patterson owns a coaching record of 149-52 with the Horned Frogs.

TCU has served as home to 17 consensus All-Americans in its 120-year history as well as 1938 Heisman Trophy winner Davey O’Brien.

Shepherd, like all college football prospects currently in their junior year of high school, will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February.
