TCU Offers Newton Running Back Darwin Barlow

Newton junior running back Darwin Barlow could be on the verge of a big spring of recruiting activity. And Friday's news only increases those odds.

Barlow (6-0, 200) reported an offer from TCU via Twitter, his second Division I FBS scholarship offer this week, and the second overall from a Big 12 program.

The Eagles' back also holds invitations from Baylor, Louisiana Tech, and Southern Miss.

Barlow is the second East Texan in the 2019 recruiting class to become a TCU target, joining Lufkin defensive tackle Carl Williams.

This past season, Barlow helped lead Newton to the Class 3A Division II state championship. He finished his junior season with 2,246 rushing yards and 38 touchdowns on 205 carries. Barlow also had 14 catches for 189 yards and four TD's.

Barlow is one of two Newton players in the 2019 class with Division I offers. Newton 2019 ATH/CB Tamauzia Brown holds offers from Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Southern Miss.

TCU signed two East Texans in the 2018 class last month -- Texas High WR Tevailance Hunt and Van OT Kris Dike.

The Horned Frogs (11-3) participated in the Big 12 championship game in 2017, and defeated Stanford, 39-37, in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28.

Barlow, like all juniors, will first be eligible to sign with any Division I program that offers in December of 2018.
