Pleasant Grove defensive end Landon Jackson is just barely halfway through his freshman year of high school. But already the Hawks star player is attracting the attention of major college football programs.

On Wednesday, Jackson (6-5, 212) received his first Division I FBS scholarship offer, and it came from Texas A&M, according to Pleasant Grove head coach Josh Gibson.

Jackson is the first player in East Texas' 2021 recruiting class with an FBS offer.

In helping lead Pleasant Grove to its first-ever football state championship in 2017, Jackson enjoyed breakout success.

Jackson finished his freshman year with 98 tackles (16 for loss), 11.5 sacks, 23 QB pressures, three forced fumbles, an interception, and six pass break-ups. He was part of a dominant defensive front that carried Pleasant Grove to a 16-0 record and the 4A Division II state title.

Texas A&M just hired former Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher to replace Kevin Sumlin, who spent six seasons leading the Aggies. Last season, A&M finished 7-6 overall and 4-4 in the SEC.

Jackson, like all freshmen, is first eligible to sign with any Division I program that offers him in December of 2020.
