The first offer is in for Gilmer 2016 athlete Demarco Boyd, and it comes from one of the biggest programs in the country.

According to several media outlets, Texas has offered Boyd (6-0, 215), who plays both running back and outside linebacker for the Buckeyes. Demarco's older brother, Kris Boyd, also has an offer from Texas, along with invitations from 13 other FBS programs.

Demarco Boyd is the sixth East Texan in the 2016 class to receive an FBS offer, joining Athens athlete Travon Fuller, Nacogdoches safety Brandon Jones, John Tyler defensive tackle Braylon Jones, Nacogdoches safety Corey Lane, and Frankston receiver Kendrick Rogers.

Demarco Boyd and Brandon Jones are the only ones with offers from Texas.

The Longhorns, under first-year coach Charlie Strong, are currently 3-4 overall and 2-2 in Big 12 Conference play. Texas plays at Kansas State on Saturday.

So far this season, Demarco Boyd has rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. On defense, he has 49 tackles (6.5 for loss), 3.5 sacks, five quarterback pressures, one interception, one forced fumble, and one recovery.

Demarco Boyd and the third-ranked Gillmer Buckeyes (7-0, 2-0 in District 5-4A Division II) travel to Bullard (4-3, 1-1) this Friday night.
